The 14th season of the Grosvenor UK Poker Tour (GUKPT) got off to a flying start in January when 379 players packed out The Poker Room in London. Artan Dedusha was crowned champion after topping a star-studded field, including fellow finalists Jack O’Neil, Victoria Coren-Mitchell, and runner-up Ben Winsor.
Dedusha banked £137,430 for his victory and is likely to reinvest £1,110 of that sum in the upcoming GUKPT Manchester Main Event.
A handful of side events take place before that £200,000 guaranteed affair gets underway. This coming Sunday, February 23rd, see the first of three starting flights in the £225 NLHE Mini Main Event. £20,000 was guaranteed in this event last year but a field of 345 entrants resulted in a £67,620 prize pool.
Lorand Nagy
won that particular event after a three-handed deal. Nagy got his hands on the trophy and £12,830, with runner-up Daniel Hide banking £14,000 and Anwar Kanji netting £11,500.The Main Event also ended in a chop. Bernard Maregedze and Richard Kellett were the last standing dup and they agreed to an almost even chop. Kellett finished second for £70,000 and went on to be crowned the GUKPT Player of the Year, with Maregedze winning £69,470.

Past GUKPT Manchester Winners
The Manchester leg of the GUKPT has crowned some fantastic champions over the year. The late Dave “El Blondie” Colclough won the inaugural GUKPT Manchester Main Event during the tour’s first season. Colclough secured an £88,300 payout.
Others who have left Manchester as a GUKPT champion include Marc Goodwin, Simon Moorman, Kuljinder Sidhu and Sunny Chattha
Rhys “Floppinhel” Jones, the legendary Ali Mallu, and Grosvenor Poker sponsored pro Andrew Hills have also emerged victoriously.
Perhaps don’t follow in the footsteps of Season 12 champion Adam Lulat who padded his bankroll with £68,930. Unfortunately for Lulat, his winnings were confiscated by Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC).

The HMRC pounced when they learned of Lulat’s victory. Lulat was fresh out of jail for his part in a £40 million money-laundering scheme. Lulat and five accomplices were ordered to pay back £590,000 (Lulat’s share was £70,000) for the crimes, but Lulat had only returned £1 due to an apparent lack of assets.
